Each Fellow receives a stipend at the end of each semester for their work and contributions throughout the two-year program. Fellows analyze their own teaching practices with support from the Teaching Academy during the first year while enacting a teaching innovation in one of their courses. During the second year, Teaching Fellows transition to roles working with UATA to share their knowledge and expertise with the campus community.

“We believe investing in our faculty members’ professional growth benefits not only the individual but also our entire University community,” said Major. “Through the Faculty Fellows Program, we aim to foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation in teaching and learning.”

The Faculty Teaching Fellows Program works to establish the value, credibility and significance of scholarly teaching while contributing to a culture of teaching excellence at UA. It does so through supporting evidence-based and theory-framed efforts in teaching and learning, studying the influence of new approaches and tools, designing high-engagement pedagogical approaches and promoting faculty networking.
