Dr. Robert Hayes, associate provost of the Office of Teaching Innovation and Digital Education, opened the ceremony with remarks on the pivotal role the Teaching Academy will serve in fostering teaching excellence. Dr. James Dalton, provost of The University of Alabama, emphasized the University’s unwavering dedication to providing unparalleled resources for faculty development and student success.
Dr. Victoria Lewis, executive director of academic innovation with OTIDE, shared the history and collaborative effort behind establishing the Academy, highlighting the collective vision driving its mission. Dr. Claire Major, the faculty director of the Teaching Academy, echoed Hayes’ sentiments, emphasizing UATA’s commitment to empowering faculty with the tools and support necessary to thrive in today’s dynamic academic landscape.
Dr. Tyler Roberts, the director of operations for UATA, delivered a toast to the future of teaching excellence. As Provost Dalton cut the ceremonial ribbon, amidst applause and excitement, a new chapter in the University’s mission of educational innovation officially opened.
